MYP Grade
For this term Latifa will be getting a 6 in science. She is only one point away from a 7 which is disappointing. She could've got that 7 if she worked a little bit harder and pushed herself because she is capable of achieving a 7. Latifa is a good student in class and is on task most of the time but sometimes she gets carried away with chatting.

Healthy and Unhealthy Foods
Junk food is unhealthy because it has empty calories. Empty calories are foods that have no goodness or vitamins or minerals, unlike normal fat which at least has some. Saturated fat is good for us but when we have a bigger portion it can be bad because it can lead to blocking the arteries. The amount of calories in a meal doesn't determine wether the food is good for you or not. You have to read the label to determine that.

The Digestive System
1. Mouth - It chews the food and makes it easier to travel down the esophagus. The saliva produced in the salivary glands in the mouth makes it easier to swallow food. The mouth also contains an enzyme called amylase that digests starch which is found in glucose.
Esophagus - The food swallowed travels down the esophagus. The esophagus is a tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.
Esophagus - The food swallowed travels down the esophagus. The esophagus is a tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.
2. Stomach -the stomach temporarily stores the food. Then a chemical reaction occurs. The enzymes start to digest the food. There are acids that dissolve food down into smaller pieces so it can be absorbed into our blood. Then the food is liquefied and travels into the small intestine.
3. Small Intestine - The small intestine is responsible for absorbing most of the nutrients found within the food. The blood leaves the small intestine, carrying away nutrients, water electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, fats and medications to the entire body.

4. Large Intestine - The foods that can’t be digested travel to the large intestine. It moves the waste from the small intestine to the rectum.

The Functions Of The Mouth
The mouth is the beginning of the digestive tract; and, in fact, digestion starts here when taking the first bite of food. Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process of breaking it down into a form your body can absorb and use.
Eating. With a healthy mouth and teeth, we can eat a wide variety of foods that are good for us. Healthy, strong teeth help us chew our foods well, which aids in digestion.
Speaking. The teeth and the other parts of our mouth are used to make the proper sounds for many letters of the alphabet. They help us speak clearly.
Appearance. The mouth is used when we smile or use other expressions. The teeth help give shape and form to our face. With a healthy mouth, we look good to ourselves and to others. The salivary glands produce saliva containing an enzyme which starts off the digestive process and which also helps the food slide down the esophagus easily.
